About Michael Standen Smith
Michael hails from Wiltshire, England. He likes to think he's still 8 years old, reading comics and jumping in puddles, but he's not. He likes to think he's a photographer too, but he's not... well, not a professional one anyway
It all started when he bought a pair of walking boots in a sale. He decided to put them to good use and set about exploring his backyard. When he plucked up the courage he even ventured to the end of his street. And then the fun really began. One day he took his camera along for the ride, and the rest, as they say, is history
Michael struggles with most things technical, so he has a very basic digital camera and does not employ any 'artificial' aides (filters, lighting, zoom lenses, converters, tripods, etc). He does not manipulate images using 'Photoshop' or similar graphic editing programs, preferring to allow the natural beauty of the subject matter to shine through. All he does is 'crop' some of them to maximise their artistic impact. His aim is to share with you the special and unique moments he finds while out exploring
Speaking of which, he's probably getting lost in the English countryside right now, camera in hand, leaning over a prickly bush trying to get just the right angle to take a picture. But he wouldn't have it any other way
Oh yes, and he's still wearing the same pair of walking boots
